Dr. Akili G. Muhammad is a graduate of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Akili completed his residency program in Houston, Texas. He remained in Houston Texas after his residency for 7 years serving under-represented communities. As time passed, Dr. Akili became dissatisfied with the economically driven medical industry. This caused him to begin seeking other opportunities as the joy of being a physician had diminished. Sitting in his office, at his wits end, he was led to read “How To Eat To Live” by The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad which had a tremendous impact on his life. The book discussed the following concepts: the benefits of fasting, the ability to remedy chronic medical problems and ways to improve diabetes without the use of medications. The information from How to Eat to Live directly aligned with the foundation that Dr. Akili received at Meharry Medical College. However, when he began practicing in his chosen discipline, he quickly learned that common medical professionals do not believe in the science of the body being able to heal and restore itself. Dr. Akili applied the concepts mentioned above to himself and patients who were weary of a failing medical system. What he witnessed was a TESTIMONY to the power of the body to restore itself. Dr. Akili is committed to Imhotep’s mantra “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food!” He works diligently with people to identity sources to provide meal preparation services to assist them on their health journey when they are unable to do so for themselves.
